Yes, yes, I know, dear readers. Earth day was officially yesterday, but here on Freedom Plaza, you'd never know it. We finally have agreeable weather here in D.C., and Green D.C. Day must go on!
Your fearless Fashionista and her Sidekick Shanna (okay, she's actually the Marketing-Communications Coordinator, but Sidekick has such a nice alliteration to it, don't you think?) are here to tell you all about how Goodwill is one of the nation's largest recyclers.
Whaaaa?! You didn't know that Goodwill was in the recycling business? Well sure, you can't drop off your plastic bottles and glass jars, but you can drop off your gently used items so that others can use them, thus keeping landfills free of extraneous clothing, household items, and other goods that are still perfectly usable. Oh snap!
If you've never donated before, don't be scared. Donation attendants will help you out and you can find a comprehensive list of what we can and cannot accept at D.C.-area donation centers on our website. It's just that easy. And if you're not in the D.C. area, it's always easy to find a Goodwill near you by visiting the Goodwill Industries Internationa website and entering your zip code. We're everywhere...
And now for some fashionable news: the Spring Look Book is live on the Fashion of Goodwill website! See that hot look to the right? We have the outfit with us at Green DC Day right now. It's two custom-made pieces from 1960s France. The top is really special: it's fashioned from fabric sourced in western Africa. They're both wonderful printed cotton pieces that are perfect for summer.
Okay, time to get this shindig underway. So far I've decided that I'm dying to ride one of the Segways and I need to go visit the rolling rainforest to see what that's all about. More to come!
